Go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. Matt 28: 19-20
Jesus told his followers to "go and make disciples". To take the message to those who had never heard and give them the opportunity to enter into a loving, obedient relationship with him. Disciples are not just followers of Christ. They are people who follow, obey and make more disciples.
Our vision is To see a church on every street corner although we don't mean buildings!
We are passionate about reaching into communities where there is little or no church, and allowing people to encounter the gospel for themselves. To read scripture with them and allow them to discover the truths within it for themselves. For those who embrace it, we invite them to explore the Bible, obey what they learn and pass this on to others. We call these groups Discovery Bible Studies, and they are focussed around five main questions:
- What does this passage tell me about God?
- What does this passage tell me about man?
- If this is God's word for me, how does it change my life?
- If this is God's word for us as community, what should we be doing?
- Who am I going to tell about this?
Once this approach gains momentum it is called a Disciple Making Movement. If you'd like to come with us as we make disciples, do please get in contact.
You can read more about Disciple Making Movements in the book Miraculous Movements by Jerry Trousdale and on our page How to run a Discovery Group. The sessions themselves are available at studies.discoverapp.org or via the Discover app.
Another great resource is dmmsfrontiermissions.com. This website helps pastors, leaders, cross cultural workers and other passionate Jesus followers in disciple-making. Be further equipped to share Christ, make disciples, start churches/discipleship groups and launch movements! It's aim is to come alongside people attempting to rapidly multiply groups of Jesus followers among unreached peoples. You can subscribe to get weekly blogs in your email, or browse the site for tips, answers, and inspiration.
